Moderation is Key
Too many men get on a new diet and then quickly fail after a week or two. The problem usually revolves around the fact that they tried to take out all of their favorite foods completely from their diet. Doing this is only going to leave your body craving your favorites, and you will be setting yourself up for a quick exit strategy from your new diet. Instead of withholding everything that you like to eat from yourself; practice some moderation. Your diet won’t be ruined by having a slice of pizza or two, just keep your indulgences to once every week or two. A scoop of ice cream won’t destroy your nutritional program either, just keep it to a scoop instead of a bucket. If you limit both the frequency and the total portion size of your favorites, you can still eat the foods that you love the most.
Always Drink Water
Drinking water is one of the best diet tips for men. Replace all of the soda that you drink with water. Water not only quenches your thirst more effectively but also is completely calorie-free. You’ll be eliminating many empty calories from your diet without losing much substance. You also will be helping to process your meals more efficiently, resulting in a higher metabolic rate. You can make other quick beverage changes as well. Cut down on your beer intake, but try to enjoy lighter beers over heavier ones. If you’re having a cocktail, try to make it with diet soda or on the rocks as opposed to fruit juices or regular soda.
Don’t Starve Yourself
The truth is that you don’t have to starve yourself in order to diet effectively. By eating multiple smaller meals throughout the course of a day, you can eat the same caloric load while making much better use of it. While working out isn’t a requirement for dieting, it’s an important ingredient in the quest to see quick and effective results. A good rule is that on days you don’t work out, you should cut down your caloric intake by between 10 and 20 percent. On days you do workout, you can eat the same amount as you normally would because your body will need the extra energy and fuel.
